Laboratoires Sarget

Laboratoires Sarget was a prominent French pharmaceutical company headquartered in Mérignac, specializing in the development and production of over-the-counter (OTC) and prescription medications. The company was widely recognized for its flagship product Sargenor, an anti-fatigue treatment based on arginine aspartate, as well as digestive health products like Hépatoum. In 1995, Laboratoires Sarget was acquired by the Swedish pharmaceutical group Astra, which later merged with Zeneca to form AstraZeneca. The acquisition allowed Astra to strengthen its presence in the French market and utilize Sarget's manufacturing capabilities. Following the merger, many of Sarget's legacy brands were eventually divested to other companies such as Meda (now Viatris), and its primary manufacturing site was sold to the CDMO Fareva in 2005.
