Overview
Labrys Biologicals was a clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on the development of treatments for chronic and episodic migraine. The company's lead candidate was LBR-101 (now known as fremanezumab), a humanized monoclonal antibody that targets the calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) ligand. Labrys was founded in 2012 to advance this specific program, which it licensed from Pfizer's Rinat unit. In 2014, Teva Pharmaceutical Industries acquired Labrys for up to $825 million to strengthen its CNS and pain management portfolio. The lead asset was eventually approved by the FDA in 2018 and is marketed under the brand name Ajovy.
