LAMBDAGEN

LambdaGen was a biotechnology company that developed a proprietary platform for the site-specific integration of large DNA payloads into mammalian genomes. The company's technology was designed to provide a more precise, stable, and predictable alternative to traditional random integration methods used in cell line development and gene therapy. By enabling the insertion of complex genetic circuits into specific hot spots in the genome, LambdaGen aimed to optimize the production of therapeutic proteins and enhance the efficacy of cell-based medicines. The platform was particularly effective for engineering cells with multiple genes or large genetic constructs that are difficult to deliver using standard viral vectors. In May 2014, LambdaGen was acquired by Intrexon Corporation (now Precigen), which sought to incorporate the platform into its suite of synthetic biology tools. Today, the technology remains a component of the broader genome engineering toolkit utilized by its successor.
