Company intelligence / Profile preview
Lancer Offshore Inc. was a British Virgin Islands-based hedge fund managed by Michael Lauer and the Lancer Management Group. While the fund was active in the late 1990s and early 2000s, it became the center of a massive securities fraud case involving the manipulation of thinly traded micro-cap stocks, including several in the healthcare and technology sectors. The fund was placed into receivership in 2003 following an SEC investigation that revealed the artificial inflation of portfolio values. Lancer Offshore is primarily known in financial history for its role in one of the era's most significant hedge fund collapses rather than for proprietary drug development or healthcare services.
