Company intelligence / Profile preview
LanthioPep is a Dutch biotechnology company specializing in the development of lanthionine-stabilized peptides, or lanthipeptides. The company's proprietary LanthioStats technology platform enables the creation of peptides with improved metabolic stability and high receptor selectivity. Its lead therapeutic candidate, LP2 (later designated MOR107), is a selective Angiotensin II Type 2 (AT2) receptor agonist aimed at treating fibrotic diseases, including idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and diabetic nephropathy. In 2015, LanthioPep was acquired by MorphoSys to integrate its peptide platform into MorphoSys's drug discovery capabilities. Following the acquisition, the lead program advanced into Phase 2 clinical trials before development was eventually discontinued.
