Legacy Kabi

Kabi was a pioneering Swedish pharmaceutical company, founded in 1931, that became a global leader in blood plasma products, parenteral nutrition, and recombinant DNA technology. The company is most famous for developing Genotropin, the first recombinant human growth hormone, and for its leadership in clinical nutrition with products like Intralipid. Following a series of mergers, it became Kabi Pharmacia in 1990. In 1999, its infusion and nutrition business was acquired by Fresenius to form Fresenius Kabi, while its other pharmaceutical assets were integrated into Pharmacia (now part of Pfizer). Today, the "Legacy Kabi" name is often associated with the historical innovation and manufacturing sites in Sweden, particularly in Uppsala and Stockholm.
