The company provided a comprehensive range of non-clinical and clinical research services to the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and chemical industries, specializing in safety and efficacy testing required for regulatory approvals. LSR gained significant international attention due to its role as the primary target of the Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty (SHAC) campaign, which led to substantial financial and operational challenges. In 2015, the company completed a major rebranding and integration process, merging with Harlan Laboratories to form Envigo. This transition marked the end of the Life Science Research name as the entity evolved into a broader provider of research models and services.
