The Life Sciences Research Office (LSRO) was an independent, non-profit organization that provided expert scientific counsel and analysis to government agencies and the private sector. Originally established in 1962 within the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB), it became an independent entity in 1992. LSRO was renowned for its rigorous peer-review processes and comprehensive reports on nutrition, food safety, and public health, often serving as a key advisor to the FDA. The organization specialized in evaluating complex scientific data to inform regulatory policy and product development. Its work spanned diverse areas including infant formula safety, dietary supplements, and toxicology. LSRO ceased operations in 2013 after five decades of service to the scientific community.
