LifeCare Hospitals of Pittsburgh was a provider of long-term acute care (LTAC) services, specializing in the treatment of patients with complex medical conditions requiring extended hospitalization. The facility operated multiple locations in the Pittsburgh region, often as "hospitals within hospitals," providing specialized programs for ventilator weaning, complex wound care, and infectious disease management. Following the 2019 Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing of its parent company, LifeCare Health Partners, the Pittsburgh operations were largely transitioned to other providers or shuttered. The organization played a critical role in the local healthcare continuum by bridging the gap between intensive care units and traditional rehabilitation centers. Most of its remaining assets and operations were eventually acquired or rebranded under PAM Health (Post Acute Medical).
