Overview
Liponex was a Canadian biopharmaceutical company focused on the development of proprietary lipid-based therapies for the treatment of cardiovascular disease. The company's lead product candidate, Liponexin, was a purified egg yolk phospholipid formulation designed to enhance reverse cholesterol transport and increase high-density lipoprotein (HDL) levels. By targeting the removal of cholesterol from the arterial wall, Liponex aimed to provide a novel approach to managing dyslipidemia and reducing the risk of atherosclerosis. Headquartered in Ottawa, the company was publicly traded on the Toronto Stock Exchange before being acquired by Aeterna Zentaris in 2008.
