Little River Healthcare was a multi-specialty healthcare system based in Central Texas that provided a wide range of medical services, including acute care, surgery, and diagnostic imaging. At its peak, the system operated hospitals in Rockdale and Cameron, along with dozens of clinics across the region. The organization gained significant attention for its involvement in a large-scale laboratory billing and kickback scheme, which eventually led to federal legal challenges. Following financial difficulties and intense legal scrutiny, Little River Healthcare filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2018 and subsequently ceased all operations. The closure left a significant gap in medical services for the rural communities it served.
