Founded in 1988 and headquartered in Sunnyvale, California, LJL Biosystems played a significant role in automating the drug discovery process. In 2000, the company was acquired by Molecular Devices for approximately $350 million, integrating its advanced detection platforms into Molecular Devices' broader portfolio of bioanalytical instruments.
