Company intelligence / Profile preview
LKB-Produkter AB was a pioneering Swedish scientific instrument company that significantly advanced the fields of biochemistry and molecular biology. Founded in 1943, the company became a global leader in laboratory technology, specializing in liquid chromatography, electrophoresis, and ultramicrotomy. LKB's innovations, such as the Ultrotome and the first commercial amino acid analyzers, were essential for protein research and clinical diagnostics. In 1986, LKB merged with Pharmacia to form Pharmacia LKB Biotechnology, which later became part of Amersham and eventually GE Healthcare (now Cytiva). The company's legacy continues through the widely used chromatography and electrophoresis platforms now maintained by its successor organizations.
