Lloyd Brothers Pharmacists Inc. was a pioneering American pharmaceutical firm based in Cincinnati, Ohio, that operated from the late 19th century through the mid-20th century. The company was the leading manufacturer of "Specific Medicines," which were high-quality botanical extracts developed for the Eclectic medical movement. Founded by the chemist and novelist John Uri Lloyd along with his brothers, the firm was celebrated for its rigorous standards in drug purification and its contributions to pharmaceutical science. The company was eventually acquired by S.B. Penick & Company in 1938, marking the end of its independent operation. Its legacy continues through the Lloyd Library and Museum, one of the world's most significant collections of botanical and pharmaceutical literature.
