Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency

The Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency (LOPA) is a non-profit organ procurement organization (OPO) designated by the federal government to serve the state of Louisiana. LOPA is responsible for coordinating organ, eye, and tissue donation, as well as providing education to the public and healthcare professionals about the importance of donation. The agency manages the recovery of organs for transplant, facilitates the matching process through the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS), and supports donor families throughout the process. LOPA operates several offices and a dedicated donor recovery center to streamline the donation process and improve transplant outcomes for patients in need.
