Company intelligence / Profile preview
LPBP Inc., formerly known as Hemosol Inc., was a Canadian biopharmaceutical company primarily focused on the development of blood-related products and laboratory services. The company was best known for its flagship product candidate, Hemolink, a hemoglobin-based oxygen carrier designed as a blood substitute for use in surgical and trauma settings. Following a major corporate reorganization in 2004, the company transitioned into a holding entity for health science investments, including a significant interest in MDS Laboratory Services. In 2006, LPBP sold its Canadian diagnostics business to Borealis Infrastructure for approximately $1.3 billion, marking a major exit in the Canadian life sciences sector. The company eventually ceased active operations and filed for voluntary dissolution in 2015.
