Company intelligence / Profile preview
Luna NanoWorks was a specialized division of Luna Innovations focused on the development and commercialization of carbon-based nanomaterials for healthcare and industrial applications. The company's primary technology platform centered on Trimetaspheres, a unique class of metallofullerenes that could be functionalized for use as high-performance MRI contrast agents and therapeutic delivery vehicles. Their lead research efforts aimed to provide significantly higher relaxivity and lower toxicity compared to conventional gadolinium-based contrast agents. In 2012, Luna Innovations divested the NanoWorks division, selling its assets and intellectual property to TDA Research to focus on its core fiber optic sensing business.
