Lutonix is a medical technology company specializing in the development of drug-coated balloons (DCB) for the treatment of peripheral arterial disease. The company's flagship product, the Lutonix 035 DCB, was the first drug-coated balloon to receive FDA approval for treating stenotic lesions in the femoropopliteal arteries. Their technology utilizes a proprietary formulation of paclitaxel and carriers to deliver medication directly to the vessel wall, aiming to prevent restenosis while leaving no permanent implant behind. Lutonix was acquired by C. R. Bard in 2011 and is now a part of Becton, Dickinson and Company (BD) following BD's acquisition of Bard in 2017.
