Lysoclear

Lysoclear is a biotechnology company and a portfolio company of Ichor Life Sciences, focused on developing recombinant enzyme therapies for degenerative eye diseases. The company's lead program, LysoClear, utilizes an engineered manganese peroxidase (rMnP) to degrade toxic vitamin A aggregates, such as A2E, that accumulate in the lysosomes of retinal pigmented epithelial (RPE) cells. By clearing these lipofuscin components, the therapy aims to prevent RPE cell death and arrest the progression of atrophic "dry" age-related macular degeneration and Stargardt's disease. Originally identified at the SENS Research Foundation, the technology was licensed and further developed by Ichor. While the program has faced manufacturing challenges related to enzyme glycosylation consistency, it remains a key asset in Ichor's longevity-focused portfolio.
