Macrobio

Macrobio is an Ecuador-based shrimp hatchery and aquaculture company rather than a human life sciences, biotech, pharma, or healthcare company. The business focuses on shrimp breeding, hatchery operations, and supplying Pacific whiteleg shrimp post-larvae to Ecuadorian farmers using advanced genetics, breeding technologies, and nutritional solutions. In 2019, Macrobio was acquired as part of a partnership led by Hendrix Genetics, together with Nutreco and Ecuacultivos, to upgrade the existing hatchery into a state-of-the-art shrimp breeding operation. Macrobio appears to remain an active operating entity within the Hendrix Genetics aquaculture portfolio.
