MacroMed

MacroMed was a specialty pharmaceutical company focused on the development of therapeutic products using proprietary drug delivery technologies. The company's core platform, ReGel, is a thermosensitive, biodegradable hydrogel that transitions from a liquid to a solid gel at body temperature, enabling the controlled and localized release of drugs. MacroMed's lead product, OncoGel, was a localized formulation of paclitaxel designed to treat solid tumors and reached Phase 2 clinical trials for esophageal and brain cancers. The company also applied its delivery technology to proteins and peptides, such as human growth hormone and interleukin-2. MacroMed was acquired by Protherics in 2007 for its advanced delivery systems and oncology pipeline.
