Madenco BioSciences was a specialty pharmaceutical company based in Raleigh, North Carolina, focused on the development and commercialization of novel therapeutic assets. The company was acquired in May 2016 by Aytu BioScience (now Aytu BioPharma), a move that brought Madenco's executive leadership and its primary development asset into the Aytu portfolio. Madenco's lead program was MiS416, a unique biological immunomodulator being evaluated for the treatment of secondary progressive multiple sclerosis (SPMS). Additionally, the company possessed the M-Cell technology, a proprietary topical delivery system for skin-related applications. The acquisition was a strategic step for Aytu to expand its pipeline into significant unmet needs within the central nervous system and specialty medicine spaces. Following the merger, Madenco's operations were integrated into Aytu's corporate structure.
