Maestretti Research Laboratories, historically known as Laboratori di Ricerche Maestretti, was an Italian pharmaceutical company based in Milan. The company specialized in the research and development of small molecule therapeutics, with a particular emphasis on respiratory, cardiovascular, and urological health. One of its most significant commercial successes was the development of the mucolytic agent sobrerol, marketed under the brand name Sobrepin. In 1972, the company was acquired by the Recordati Group, a major Italian pharmaceutical organization, to bolster its R&D pipeline and international presence. Today, Maestretti operates as a subsidiary and legacy brand within the Recordati portfolio, with its historical products still integrated into the parent company's offerings.
