Magellan Laboratories

Magellan Laboratories was a prominent contract research organization (CRO) and pharmaceutical development company headquartered in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. Founded in 1991, the company specialized in providing high-quality analytical chemistry, formulation development, and stability testing services. It also offered cGMP manufacturing capabilities for clinical trial materials, supporting clients from the pre-clinical stage through to commercialization. The firm was recognized for its technical expertise in handling complex drug delivery systems and its commitment to regulatory compliance. In March 2002, Magellan Laboratories was acquired by Cardinal Health for approximately $253 million. Following the acquisition, its operations were integrated into Cardinal Health's Pharmaceutical Technologies and Services segment, which eventually became part of Catalent Pharma Solutions.
