Company intelligence / Profile preview
MagForce has developed and commercialized the first EU-approved nanotechnology-based medical device for treating solid brain tumors using magnetic hyperthermia. The company’s proprietary NanoTherm therapy involves injecting superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles into a tumor and heating them with an alternating magnetic field to destroy or sensitize tumor cells. Over 100 patients have been treated in Europe; clinical studies are ongoing in the US for prostate cancer. Clinical adoption has been slow but supported by strong IP and strategic investment from Mithril Capital Management.
