MagIC Lifescience is developing a point-of-care molecular diagnostic device using giant magnetoresistance (GMR) biosensors for ultra-fast PCR and DNA detection. The system aims to deliver comprehensive pathogen identification and antimicrobial susceptibility results within 20 minutes at the point of care. As of mid–2025, the product is still in development and has not received regulatory clearance.[2][3][4] Early prototypes are functional with fluidic handling capabilities demonstrated by early 2023.[3] The company has received grant funding from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to expand access to affordable STI diagnostics globally.[7]
