Preclinical studies in mouse models show that the prime-and-trap vaccine approach—using repRNA/LION nanocarrier and radiation-attenuated sporozoites—induces robust, durable immune responses and >80% sterile protection in accelerated dosing regimens. Mice challenged after same-day immunization showed 90% sterile protection at three weeks and 70% at two months. MalarVx is entering late-stage preclinical and clinical development.
