Mallinckrodt Veterinary was a leading global animal health company that specialized in the development, manufacturing, and marketing of pharmaceuticals and vaccines for livestock and companion animals. The company was a subsidiary of Mallinckrodt Group and gained significant market share through the integration of Pitman-Moore's assets. Its portfolio featured prominent products like Ralgro, a growth promotant for cattle, and a variety of veterinary biologicals. In 1997, Mallinckrodt sold the veterinary division to Schering-Plough for $402 million to refocus on its core human healthcare businesses. The business is now part of Merck Animal Health following subsequent industry consolidations.
