MAP Pharmaceuticals was a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on developing and commercializing new therapies for neurologic and respiratory diseases. The company's primary focus was its proprietary TEMPO inhaler platform, designed to deliver drugs efficiently to the systemic circulation via the lungs with a rapid onset of action. Its lead product candidate, Levadex (inhaled dihydroergotamine), was developed for the acute treatment of migraine and reached the NDA stage prior to the company's acquisition. MAP Pharmaceuticals was acquired by Allergan in 2013 for approximately $958 million to bolster Allergan's neurology and migraine portfolio.
