Marconi Medical Systems was a prominent manufacturer of medical diagnostic imaging equipment, specializing in Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), and nuclear medicine systems. Originally founded as Picker International, the company was rebranded as Marconi Medical Systems in 1999 following its parent company's transition to Marconi plc. During its peak, it was a leading global supplier of multislice CT scanners and high-field MRI systems, competing with major industry players like GE and Siemens. In 2001, the company was acquired by Royal Philips Electronics for $1.1 billion, integrating its advanced imaging technologies into the Philips Medical Systems portfolio.
