Marina Biotech

Marina Biotech was a U.S. clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on nucleic acid therapeutics, particularly RNA interference and other oligonucleotide-based approaches for orphan and specialty indications. Its lead historical clinical asset was CEQ508, an orally delivered RNAi therapeutic targeting beta-catenin for familial adenomatous polyposis. The company also developed delivery technologies including the SMARTICLES liposomal nucleic acid delivery platform and worked on siRNA, microRNA, antisense, and related RNA modalities. Marina pursued partnerships around its delivery technology and RNA therapeutics programs, including collaborations with Mirna Therapeutics, MiNA Therapeutics, and Rosetta Genomics. The company later shifted strategy, moved toward specialty/commercial-stage assets, and changed its name to Adhera Therapeutics in October 2018.
