Marriott Senior Living Services was a prominent provider of senior housing and healthcare services in the United States, operating as a subsidiary of Marriott International. The company managed a diverse portfolio of communities offering independent living, assisted living, and specialized memory care for individuals with Alzheimer's and dementia. At the time of its divestiture, it was one of the largest senior living providers in the country, with over 150 properties. In 2003, Marriott International sold the division to Sunrise Senior Living for approximately $89 million in cash plus the assumption of debt. This move allowed Marriott to refocus on its core hospitality and lodging operations while Sunrise significantly expanded its market share in the senior care sector. The transition integrated Marriott's hospitality-driven service model into Sunrise's care-focused operations.
