MassBiologics, part of the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School, is the only non-profit, FDA-licensed manufacturer of vaccines and biologics in the United States. With a history spanning over a century, the organization focuses on developing and manufacturing products that address significant public health needs, particularly for underserved populations and orphan diseases. Its portfolio includes the commercially available Td vaccine and several successfully licensed monoclonal antibodies, such as bezlotoxumab for C. difficile and a rabies monoclonal antibody. MassBiologics also operates as a contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO), providing services from cell line development to aseptic fill-finish. Currently, it is advancing a novel pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) for Lyme disease through clinical trials.
