Matritech

Matritech was a biotechnology company specializing in the development of protein-based diagnostic tests for the early detection and monitoring of various cancers. The company's proprietary technology platform focused on Nuclear Matrix Proteins (NMPs), which are structural elements of the cell nucleus that exhibit specific changes during the development of cancer. Its lead product, the NMP22 BladderChek Test, is an FDA-cleared proteomic biomarker assay used for the management and screening of bladder cancer. Matritech's portfolio also included diagnostic candidates for cervical and breast cancers. In 2007, the company's assets were acquired by Inverness Medical Innovations, which later became part of Alere and subsequently Abbott.
