Mayflower BioVentures is a cell and gene therapy accelerator and venture studio established through a strategic partnership between Mayo Clinic, Hibiscus BioVentures, and Innoforce. Launched in 2022, the entity is dedicated to identifying and commercializing transformative technologies from Mayo Clinic's research portfolio, particularly in the fields of regenerative medicine, immune system modulation, and gene therapy. Mayflower BioVentures operates by launching independent startup companies, providing them with capital, management expertise, and manufacturing support to advance through preclinical and early clinical development. Its portfolio includes spin-outs such as Primera Therapeutics, which is developing gene editing platforms for mitochondrial diseases, as well as other ventures like Sendero and InvoCAR. The accelerator aims to bridge the gap between academic research and commercial drug development to address significant unmet patient needs.
