MCG Capital

MCG Capital was a U.S. business development company and investment firm that provided debt and equity capital to small- and mid-sized private companies. It was not an operating biotech, pharma, or healthcare company, though it invested across multiple sectors and at times backed healthcare-related businesses. The company was publicly traded on NASDAQ under the ticker MCGC before entering into a merger agreement with PennantPark Floating Rate Capital in April 2015. The acquisition closed on August 18, 2015, after which MCG Capital ceased operating as an independent public company. As a result, MCG Capital should be classified primarily as a financial services investment company rather than a life sciences company.
