Company intelligence / Profile preview
MDS Laboratories was the diagnostic services division of MDS Inc., a prominent Canadian life sciences company that provided a broad range of healthcare products and services. The division operated one of the largest networks of community-based medical laboratories in North America, offering clinical testing, histology, and medical imaging services to physicians and patients. Beyond diagnostics, the parent organization was a global leader in contract research through MDS Pharma Services and medical isotopes through MDS Nordion. In 2007, the Canadian laboratory operations were acquired by LifeLabs for approximately $1.3 billion CAD as part of a strategic restructuring. Following further divestitures of its pharma services and analytical instruments units, the remaining entity rebranded as Nordion Inc. in 2010.
