MDS Proteomics

MDS Proteomics was a pioneering biotechnology company dedicated to functional proteomics and drug discovery. Founded in 1999 as a subsidiary of MDS Inc., the company utilized high-throughput mass spectrometry and IBM supercomputing to map protein-protein interactions and identify novel drug targets. It established significant collaborations with industry leaders like Abgenix and Eli Lilly to develop antibody and small molecule therapeutics for cancer, cardiovascular, and inflammatory diseases. Although it built one of the world's largest proteome analysis platforms, the company faced financial challenges and was reorganized as Protana Inc. in 2004. Its legacy remains in the foundational proteomics technologies and methodologies it helped develop for the pharmaceutical industry.
