Meadox Medicals

Meadox Medicals was a pioneering medical device company specializing in the development and manufacture of synthetic vascular grafts and related cardiovascular products. Founded in 1962, the company became a global leader in the vascular surgery market, notably for its Dacron-based grafts used in arterial reconstruction and aneurysm repair. Meadox is well-known for its historical collaborations with prominent surgeons such as Michael DeBakey and Denton Cooley to develop and commercialize life-saving surgical tools. The company's product portfolio included knitted and woven polyester grafts, as well as early-stage stent technologies. In 1995, Meadox Medicals was acquired by Boston Scientific for approximately $450 million, a move that significantly expanded Boston Scientific's presence in the vascular and cardiovascular intervention markets.
