Mechanical Dynamics

Mechanical Dynamics (MDI) was a pioneering software company best known for developing ADAMS (Automated Dynamic Analysis of Mechanical Systems), the world's most widely used multibody dynamics simulation software. In the life sciences and healthcare sectors, MDI's technology became a foundational tool for biomechanical modeling, allowing researchers and engineers to simulate human movement and the performance of medical implants. The company's LifeMOD division specifically focused on musculoskeletal modeling, enabling the virtual testing of orthopedic devices, prosthetics, and ergonomic designs. Mechanical Dynamics was acquired by MSC Software in 2002, which was later integrated into Hexagon AB, where the ADAMS platform continues to support medical device development and biomechanical research.
