MedCath Corporation was a specialized healthcare provider focused on the development and operation of cardiovascular hospitals and heart centers across the United States. Founded in 1988, the company pioneered a model of partnering with cardiologists and cardiovascular surgeons to provide high-quality, specialized cardiac care, including cardiac catheterization and open-heart surgery. At its peak, MedCath operated numerous heart hospitals and diagnostic facilities in multiple states, often in joint ventures with local physicians. Following changes in the regulatory environment and a strategic review, the company's board approved a plan of liquidation and dissolution in 2010. This led to the systematic sale of its assets to various health systems and the final dissolution of the corporation in 2012.
