MedCell Bioscience

MedCell Bioscience was a UK-based regenerative medicine company specializing in stem cell therapies for musculoskeletal injuries. Founded in 2002 as Vetcell, the company pioneered the use of autologous mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) to treat tendon and ligament injuries, initially achieving commercial success in the equine veterinary market. Following a merger with NovaThera in 2008, MedCell expanded its technology portfolio to include bioactive glass (TheraGlass) for tissue stimulation and bio-processing systems (NovaPod) for 3D cell culture. The company's lead human program, MS-Ten, focused on translating its veterinary success into clinical treatments for athletic injuries in humans. In 2011, the company's assets were reportedly acquired by Arthrex, a global leader in orthopedic surgical solutions.
