Medical Center of Louisiana at New Orleans

The Medical Center of Louisiana at New Orleans (MCLNO) was a major state-owned healthcare system located in New Orleans, Louisiana, operated by the LSU Health Care Services Division. The system was primarily composed of two teaching hospitals: the historic Charity Hospital and University Hospital. It served as the primary safety-net provider for the region and a critical Level 1 trauma center, while also functioning as the main teaching site for the LSU Health Sciences Center and Tulane University School of Medicine. Following the catastrophic impact of Hurricane Katrina in 2005, Charity Hospital was closed, and the system's operations were eventually transitioned to the University Medical Center New Orleans. Today, the legacy of MCLNO continues under the management of LCMC Health in a modern facility that replaced the original state-run infrastructure.
