Medical College of Pennsylvania Hospital

Medical College of Pennsylvania (MCP) Hospital was a prominent teaching hospital and clinical facility located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Originally founded in 1850 as the Female Medical College of Pennsylvania, it held the distinction of being the first medical school in the world for women. The hospital served as the primary clinical teaching site for the medical school through various mergers, including the formation of MCP Hahnemann University. In 1998, the hospital was acquired by Tenet Healthcare following the bankruptcy of the Allegheny Health, Education and Research Foundation (AHERF). Tenet Healthcare ultimately closed the hospital in 2004, while the associated medical school was integrated into Drexel University.
