Siena Biotech was an Italian drug discovery and development company focused on neurodegenerative diseases and oncology. Founded in 2001 and backed by the Monte dei Paschi di Siena Foundation, the company specialized in identifying small molecule therapeutics for conditions such as Alzheimer's, Huntington's, and Parkinson's diseases. Its pipeline included several programs targeting sirtuins and BACE1, with some candidates reaching early clinical development. Despite significant investment and strategic partnerships with companies like Aptuit and Wyeth, Siena Biotech faced financial difficulties and entered liquidation in 2015.
