The company was widely recognized for its expertise in cardiovascular and metabolic disease testing, providing standardized laboratory data for large-scale Phase II through Phase IV studies. Operating from key hubs in the United States and Belgium, MRL served major pharmaceutical clients by managing complex diagnostic logistics and data integration. In 2001, MRL was acquired by Covance for $65 million, significantly expanding Covance's market share in the central laboratory sector. The company's operations have since been fully integrated into Labcorp's drug development division.
