The Medical Transcription Industry Alliance (MTIA) was a non-profit trade association dedicated to the medical transcription and clinical documentation sector. It served as a primary advocate for medical transcription service organizations (MTSOs), providing resources for professional development, industry standards, and legislative advocacy. In 2012, the organization rebranded as the Clinical Documentation Industry Association (CDIA) to reflect the industry's transition from traditional transcription to broader clinical data management and electronic health record integration. The association played a critical role in establishing best practices for data integrity and HIPAA compliance within the healthcare documentation workflow before its eventual dissolution.
