MedicalCV

MedicalCV was a cardiovascular medical device company specializing in treatments for atrial fibrillation and heart valve disorders. The company's primary products included the Omnicarbon mechanical heart valve and the AtriLaze and Solar surgical ablation systems, which utilized laser energy for cardiac tissue ablation. Following financial difficulties and a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing, the company's assets were acquired by AtriCure in 2008 for approximately $2.1 million. The remaining corporate shell eventually transitioned into a media company named Universal Media Group. During its operation, MedicalCV was a pioneer in laser-based surgical ablation for the treatment of arrhythmias.
