Company intelligence / Profile preview
Medi-Ject Corporation was a pioneering medical technology company that developed and commercialized needle-free injection systems. Founded in 1979 and based in Minneapolis, the company's core technology used pressurized liquid to deliver medications through the skin, providing a less invasive alternative to traditional needle-and-syringe injections. Its flagship products, including the Medi-Jector and Medi-Jector Vision, were primarily used for the administration of insulin and human growth hormone. In 2001, Medi-Ject merged with Permatec Pharma to form Antares Pharma, which further advanced the technology into modern auto-injector platforms such as Vibex. Antares Pharma was subsequently acquired by Halozyme Therapeutics in 2022 for approximately $960 million, integrating Medi-Ject's legacy technology into a broader drug delivery portfolio.
