MedPointe Healthcare was a specialty pharmaceutical company focused on developing, marketing, and selling branded prescription products. Formed in 2001 through the acquisition of Carter-Wallace's healthcare business, the company specialized in therapeutic areas such as allergy, respiratory, and central nervous system disorders. Its lead products included Astelin (azelastine) for allergic rhinitis and Felbatol for epilepsy. The company was headquartered in Somerset, New Jersey, and was backed by a consortium of private equity firms including The Carlyle Group. In 2007, MedPointe was acquired by the Swedish pharmaceutical firm Meda AB for approximately $825 million. Following subsequent industry consolidation, its legacy products are now part of the Viatris portfolio.
